The 'Mobile Receptionist' Comes to London Front of House Staff

I must admit, this is the only technology presentation I have ever been to where the women far outnumbered the men.  It was late afternoon in a London high rise where I had come with my colleagues to be part of a Trimble presentation on the “Mobile Receptionist”.  It was an event sponsored by FOH Recruitment for reception and room co-ordination specialists, or "front of house" personnel, in the London law offices of the US based firm Weil, Gotshal and Manges. Trimble was also sponsoring the event by providing bottles of champagne, lined up like good soldiers with Trimble memory sticks tied around each bubbly package, waiting to be picked up by the audience when they left the event.

Trimble sponsored the FOH event with champagne for allThe presentation was very interactive, followed by a Forum Discussion of the various companies which had solutions for reservation systems (Trimble beat out Condeco in this polling which is always fun to see).  The discussion involved the pros and cons of using tablets for user access, the journey from the ‘boardwalk to the boardroom’ and how it can be made to be the best experience possible.  A topic we surveyed and reported on in a recent white paper titled ‘Unrivalled Client Experience’ and available for download here. The group seemed to agree that kiosks were not in favor due to the need for more human contact to enhance the customer’s interplay with staff of the company from the moment they enter a building until their final departure.

After the discussion, the catering company, Bennett Hay, had prepared amazing treats for the participants which included special spring cocktails, hors d’oeurves and desserts.  It was clear from the royal punch to the chocolate dipped strawberries that being a client of Weil, Gotshal and Manges meant your very favorite food item (and your dietary requirements) would be served to you each time you met with lawyers in this impeccably designed office space which hovered over the London skyline.  This firm obviously understood the value of giving their clients the best possible experience and giving them a competitive advantage over their competition.
